How are You practicing Self Care?

It’s a new year, but unfortunately COVID is still among us. Moreover, we don’t really know how much longer we will have to be limiting our social interactions, so it’s very important to remember to take care of our mental health and ourselves.

So, how are you taking care of your self?

For me, I’ve found that the best self-care has come by allowing myself to put everything aside and watch my favorite shows or listen to music while just relaxing. Because it’s often hard to disconnect when we are working from home or have to be home for the majority of the time, I encourage you to take time specifically to unwind and indulge in what makes you happy.

Other ways you may find relief or can practice self care include but are not limited to:

-Taking a shower or bath
-Doing your hair or makeup (even if you aren’t going anywhere)
-Having a mini photo shoot from the comfort of your own home
-Setting up a game night virtually
-Facetiming favorite relatives or friends on a consistent basis
-Ordering or cooking your favorite meals

Please comment what you’ve been doing to take care of yourself!!!

Self Care is something I am focusing on a lot more than in the past. Its something I will continue to do, work on going forward, and is one my of New Years resolution.

I have always been very resilient, tough, and been able to get through hard times. There have been countless times where I have said “I’ll truck and get through this like I always do”. However, I have learned that the Burnout is real, and there is no harm in taking some time for yourself. I have always put others needs before mine. Over the past 5 to 6 months I would say a lot of people have been telling me “Its time to take care of yourself and put you first before others. And that there is no shame in that”

So one of the ways I started practicing Self Care was realizing how important it was, and it was okay to do something nice for yourself. I have always been my own worst critic, and for the longest time I felt like I didn’t deserve anything good. That mindset has changed as I have been able to develop confidence over the past 6 months as well. People have also told me “The same kindness and love you give to other people you need to give to yourself”

Other ways I have practiced Self Care are:

.Noticing the feelings of being overwhelmed
.Recognizing the warning signs and knowing my limitations
.Make sure to listen to music at some point during the day. (Music has always been my biggest coping skill and go to for everything. I have noticed that the days that aren’t as good as others are when I haven’t listened to music.)
.Spend sometime during the day to play video games with friends
.Hanging out with my close friends
    .Getting Rest

    Thanks for sharing Alex!

Additionally, some ways I was able to practice self-care this weekend were:

-Taking a warm shower that was longer than usual
-Taking time to relax by watching tv instead of overwhelming myself with work and homework
    -listening to music
-Going out to get some air

Anytime Luz! Thank you for sharing an update as well!

I wanted to make sure to come back to this thread because I realized I needed to practice some self care recently!
I started to notice the signs of burnout and feeling a bit overwhelmed. What I was able to do to practice some self care within the last few days was:

-Make sure to prioritize things that need to get done
-Pay attention to the warning signs and knowing my limitations
    -Listen to music
-Reach out and ask for help

I’ve found that the last couple of weeks have been really busy and stressful, and although I haven’t always prioritized taking time for myself I definitely had to in order to kind of reset. Lately, my self-care has looked like:

    -Watching my favorite Netflix series
-Going outside and getting some fresh air and sunlight
    -Painting while listening to music

Have any of you practiced self-care recently? If so, what did it look like for you?
