Anxiety, Depression and the American Adolescent

I found this article very insightful. It covered some really important topics regarding why American young adults get depressed and find it difficult to deal with depression. One reference for example, is the conversation about keeping up with a social media identity and how that is affecting us… there is so much to this and its more demanding than I could ever imagine.
I think its a good read, so I recommend it. Of course this link will take you to TIME Magazine’s subscription page but if you are not a subscriber and don’t wish to subscribe, just be reminded that you can also borrow a free copy of the November 7th Edition of the magazine from your local library.

I read this same article… it was all over my social media so of course, I had to check it out. It’s so on point. The social identity maintenance and balance can really be challenging. There’s just so much to keep up with and so many unrealistic expectations. It’s such a challenge to just be yourself nowadays. I dont know how we got here but it’s really sad. Being a young adult was never easy but I feel in this day and age with the media, it’s a bit harder. Too much going on… gotta remember that keeping up with others isn’t something that is neccessary. Being normal, being you is completely ok! You’re fab the way you are… dont need the freshest of clothes, dont need a passport with tons of stamps and you dont need the physical enhancements to be worthy.
