Coping with the winter

Hey everyone,

It has finally reached that time of year when you have to put on that winter jacket, gloves and scarf. Most of us love the spring and summer where it’s warm and you can go outside in just a t-shirt, but unfortunately we all have to deal with the winter (unless you live down south). I used to be one of those people who got depressed during the winter because for the most part you have to be indoors because it’s just too cold. Then I tried to see the positives about the winter and surprisingly I found some. What I love about winter is it’s the season for Christmas and New Years. This is the time I get together with friends and family that I never see throughout the year. I also love the snow. I hate driving in it, but when you look out your window at home and you can see the snow falling, I find it very relaxing to just watch. How do you feel about the cold weather? Is their anything you like about Winter? Please feel free to share.

    Hey Carl!

I can definitely agree that the winter tends to get my mood down a little. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that the time changes, and it is dark outside earlier than the rest of the year and it seems to just be gloomier. I seem to do better when it is bright outside until 8 PM or later, and when I don’t have to bundle up in like 4 layers just to go out to my car. I do, however, enjoy the holidays that are in the winter season. So I guess there is always a plus side! 🙂

    Hey Carl,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Winter. I definitely agree with you- the Winter totally gets me down because of how much time we have to spend inside. I try so hard to look on the bright side of the frigid Winter air. My birthday is at the beginning of March- that is always what I look forward to when the Winter approaches. I know that shortly after my birthday, the Winter air will start to melt away and the Spring sunshine will be on its way in.
I also like to utilize the Winter time to catch up on my reading and tea drinking! My favorite place to be in the Winter time is cuddled up on my couch with my cat on my lap (I know Ally can relate to that!), with my favorite book in my hands, and a cup of tea on my coffee table. Now that I have that picture in my brain- I think I’m going to do exactly that when I finish working today!
Thanks for the inspiration Carl! And thanks for the opportunity to think about the bright side of the darkness of Winter!

Ok so I’m weird and I like the winter because I’m a homebody so it gives me an excuse to be extra homebody-ish lol

I def don’t like the cold though, but I LOVE snuggling up with my Petey and also being cozy with my boyfriend.

Plus, I LOVE wearing hoodies and robes, so I love this season because I can wear them all the time pretty much. Plus, I’m not very happy with my body image right now so I love that I can hide everything under my layers and sweaters lol

    Ally,

I would just like to take the chance to thank you for making me look at this in another way…

I don’t think that you are weird at all. In fact, I am a homebody too, so I don’t know why I didn’t appreciate the fact before that the winter gives me an excuse to not have to go anywhere because it’s just too cold LOL. Also, I love a good hoodie, and can literally live in sweat pants so those are definitely also a plus to this season that I cannot appreciate when it’s scorching out. So again, thanks for making me look at the upside of this even if it wasn’t intentional 🙂
