Hey everyone-
I want to talk about something that has been super controversial in the Mental Health community: 13 Reasons Why- the Netflix version of the 2007 novelThirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.
I have not seen the first season yet, nor have I read the book, but I have heard many different opinions on the release of this Netflix series. I’m wondering what you guys think.
Have you seen it? Do you plan to watch the second season? How do you feel about the way mental illness is portrayed in the series?
I am curious to hear your opinions as I decide whether or not to watch the show.

Hey Olivia,
I have seen the first season and tbh I binged watched it and I actually really enjoyed it. I literally cannot wait to binge watch this next season!!
I can see how some people may not like it. I liked it because it had an interesting story line and I liked seeing all of the different perspectives. I guess I liked it because I think that it shows the effects of bullying and peer influence. I remember being in high school and one person would do something to someone and it would have a terrible domino effect. I think the series also raises awareness how you really don’t know what is going on with someone and how the mean thing you may say or do to them can be the final straw ya know?
