I have been sick since last Friday; I haven’t been this sick for so long! The other day I told a few of my family members that I wouldn’t be able to go on a trip that I had planned for this weekend because I am too sick and don’t want to get any one else sick. I was telling somebody that I felt really bad that I couldn’t go, and this person says to me “Are you sure you aren’t just depressed?” I looked at her and said “Wait, what?” I just couldn’t believe that someone would assume I am depressed because I have been sleeping (to feel better) and that I am not going on my trip. What she saw was isolating.. sleeping.. and me not being at work. But, in reality.. It’s that I am drained and need to rest so I do not get any worse.
I found this so interesting and have been thinking a lot about it. When somebody has a history of something, (isolating, not following through etc.) people are so quick to judge that it’s the flaw they have, but it really could be that they are sick or not feeling well.
Thought I’d share this, got me thinking a lot the past day or two!

the issue with this is… people assume way too much. I Hate assumptions, only because it never gives the other person a chance to speak or to share whatever it is that they want to. People need to stop thinking that they know everything… and listen for once.. ask more questions and do less assuming. Things change, people do too..
You are so right!! All she did was assume, and this happens so often.
I feel like the saying “when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me”- applies so well here. You did a great job of channeling your energy and feelings about this person’s comment into a blog post, but if that person was to have made a comment like that without thinking to someone, it could have caused them to take some serious steps backwards. I feel like people should be more careful before jumping to conclusions that have nothing to do with them, or that they may not know the entire truth behind.
Thanks, Luz! I totally agree, people should not assume as much and not jump to conclusion so quickly.
