Stemming from a group discussion I had earlier on in the week, I thought I would post the following question on here as well to see what other people’s answers would be. If you could have any ONE superpower, what would it be and why?
I had stated that I would like the power to read people’s minds, but also have the ability to turn the power off with a switch or something when I wanted to. I would want this superpower over the rest of them so that I would be able to surprise others with answer before they even asked me questions. I also think it would be cool to be able to know what people’s honest opinions about things are, because there is no way they can now keep the truth from you.
How about you?

I would want to fly so I can get to places more quickly!
Hmm…
I always wanted powers of restoration – like you could repair and restore things and make them better (make nature grow, etc.)
I would also like the power of ice and be able to freeze things…
Michael,
I find your first power to be quite interesting. When you think of having the power of restoration, would you include the ability to be able to regrow limbs and things like that if you were ever to engage in any sort of battle or be in an accident? I ask because when you mention that, the first thing that popped into my head was a starfish and how they are one of the few animals who can do this! 🙂
Every time this comes up, I’m always stuck in between wanting to fly or go back in time. As I get older, things change for different reasons. Nowadays, I’m wishing that I was invincible… kind of like Wolverine and Luke cage. Super strength with indestructible skin.. yeah that’s right lol
Fly for sure… next to have that, just to have the power to solve any problem as they come up!
Kevin,
To be able to solve any problem as they come up would definitely be something fierce! I picture myself having that superpower and I feel like I wouldn’t ever struggle with being positive, because I would know beforehand that I wouldn’t have to struggle. On the other end of things though, I wonder if having this superpower from the beginning of my life would have still allowed me to become the person I am today. For example, would I value the things I do, or double think certain things because I didn’t have to struggle in life?
Someone at work suggested that they would like to be able to speak and understand all languages for their superpower. Another person said thats not a superpower.
I personally believe that any ability that no human currently or has ever had is technically a superpower.
What do you think?
Kevin,
I would definitely agree with that! Even things like having the ability to cure cancer or all illnesses to me would be considered a superpower! To me, the term superpower comes into play when we think about what makes something “more than” or different than usual. By being able to do something out of the norm, I feel that is what qualifies it as being super. There are other things I would put into this category, like the example you mentioned of being able to understand various languages. I would also insert things like being able to recall specific events in history including the day of the week it happened on etc, in there. This should be a more general category than the ones superheroes on television fall under.
You are exactly right Luz!
As long as it is out of the norm, that is sufficient enough for it to be a superpower.
That one person who didn’t agree that it is a superpower was arguing that it is attainable and if it is, then it can’t be a superpower.
Still, there are over 6000 languages, and for anyone to speak all languages fluently they have got to have some form of super power. It’s just not possible on an average level.
I would rather be able to teleport than fly. It’s faster and I’m afraid of heights.
I would totally want to be invisible!!! I’m the nosiest person around so I would be snooping in everything – NO SHAME! haha
