I’m a very strong believer in the power of the tongue. I find what you speak has a very high impact on how your day goes and ultimately what your reality becomes. With that being said, I also enjoy quotes and sayings a lot, which are basically like positive declarations or words that we can repeat to ensure that we have a good day, interview, session, etc. Some of my favorite ones include:
– “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” -Maya Angelou
– “I can do all things through God who strengthens me.” – Phillipians 4:13
– “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” -Marianne Williamson

“You are a terribly real thing in a terribly false world, and that, I believe, is why you are in so much pain.”
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt
I’ve lived by this since discovering it in college. All I can do in life is take advantage of what I have right now and this moment and make the most out of it. I’ve grown to appreciate myself and where I am in life.
I was reading The Meaning of Life by Viktor Frankle, who lived within a concentration camp during during World War II. He embraced the idea that despite the suffering that surrounds us or obstacles that we face in the immediate moment, we must look towards the future. He coined the following phrases,
“If there is meaning in life, there is meaning in suffering” and “Suffering without meaning is despair.”
“Tiny change today brings a dramatically different tomorrow.” – Richard Bach

“Trusting God won’t make the mountain smaller, but will make the climbing easier.”
“Man says show me and I’ll trust you. God says trust me and I’ll show you.”
“Don’t try to rush things that need time to grow.”
“I used to like the idea of people thinking I had it all together. Now I can’t wait to tell them how much of a mess I was and show them what the power of God can do.”
“For God hath not given the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
– Motivation is the key to success.
-I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.
-Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.
Torry,
When I read the quote, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination”, I feel like that means it doesn’t matter what has happened in the past or what obstacles I’ve had to face, I am ultimately the controller of my own destiny. Do you agree or disagree with this? Would you change anything to this interpretation?
