Boys and Girls Village
Boys & Girls Village is a federal IRS approved 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit agency licensed by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) for their residential and therapeutic treatment components, and by the Connecticut Department of Education for their Day School for children with special educational needs. Referrals are received from DCF, managed care companies and from public school systems.
The clients of Boys & Girls Village are children in crisis or children with learning difficulties who have experienced rejection, failure or abuse. Through the years, the agency has evolved into a leading therapeutic and learning facility offering residential shelter, clinical, after-school, counseling, special educational, foster & adoptive programs, family support services, and day programs for children and their families.
Programs include:
Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption Services:Ô_for children 6 to 17 years old who are in custody of DCF
Charles F. Hayden School:Ô_a private, special education school
Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services and Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy:Ô_home-based clinical treatment programs for children ages 5 _ã_ 18 with significant psychiatric or behavioral difficulties who are often at imminent risk of being removed from the home, or just returning home from residential care.
Day Treatment Program:Ô_provides the proven therapies needed to keep a child in the community, or transition home from residential or foster care.
Outpatient Clinical Services:Ô_a comprehensive range of psychiatric, individual and family behavioral therapies; medication management; and psychosexual assessments.
Kids Intensive Needs Network (INN):Ô_a sub-acute, live-in facility that provides specialized, intensive care to children 5 to 12 with severe psychiatric difficulties as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization.
Safe Haven:Ô_a 12 bed residential treatment facility for boys between the ages of 11 and 15. 11 years with problem sexual behavior.
Adventure Village:Ô_a structured, summer, therapeutic, adventure-based day program that uses physical challenges to build character, promote team work and encourage responsibility.
Work to Learn:Ô_a referral based service that provides educational and vocational support to assist youth to successfully transition into adulthood
