a poem for me

we shared love for lamogtrigine and bubble tea.
i hate that you left me before i finished the scarf
i’ve been knitting for you.
i leave my charges at the houses of people i don’t talk to anymore.
exposed, with too many unsaved numbers in my phone.
why did i think we were closer than we actually were?
why did it hurt me more than it hurt you?
now i cry and think about eggs benedict more than i should.
i should go outside

The line that stuck with me the most throughout this entire poem was “why did it hurt me more than it hurt you”? I feel like too often I let things effect me for far too long that perhaps shouldn’t be on my mind for so long. Other people, especially the ones that have caused me the discomfort are out there living their best life and I’m just left sitting in a feeling of ugh. I’m working on letting go. 🙂

aawwwweee! i love that this stuck with you. it’s really nice to know that other people think what you make is of value. YOU are a strong, shiny unicorn and will RISEEEE above them all!
