What is the most meaningful song lyric to you?

Music use to get me through the best and worse times in my life. Whether it was someone passing away, blocking the sound from screaming in my house, taking long drives and drowning out the world… music was and is always there for me.

When I was at the lowest point of my life I went to music for help. There is this song that I would play over and over again, and my most meaningful lyrics was :

“Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger.”

I absolutely love this sentence.

What is your most meaningful lyric in any song?

My favorite lyrics is I care for you by Aaliyah because there is nothing better then feeing like someone that cares for you.

I really love the song Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. “Our lives are made in these small hours, these little wonders, these twists and turns of fate, time falls away but these small hours still remain.” A great reminder that life is a journey and the small things tend to be the most important.

I agree with Torry when she says music can get her through the best and worse times of her life. It’s often one of the most reliable supports of my entire life. If I had to choose just one song to extract the most meaningful song lyrics from, I would choose Forgive by Trevor Hall and the line would be “I love you and I mean it, hey little child can you feel it?” These particular lyrics are important to me because I feel as though I have struggled loving my inner child and nurturing her, so through this line in the song I feel I can reach inside and care for her.

I really found this question to be quite intriguing, and although I picked these lyrics overall, I think if one were to think about picking lyrics particularly to a specific need, situation or feeling, we would change our answer. For example, if I were asked to pick my most meaningful lyrics when I need to express my anger I would most likely choose from the Eminem song variety.

I like the songs you guys mentioned! One of my favorite parts about music, is the power the words can have. I love many different types of music but one of my favorites that holds some lyrics that I love is Breathe [2 AM] by Anna Malick

No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
    And breathe… just breathe,
    Oh breathe, just breathe

For me this is all about acceptance about where you are at with your life and there is nothing you can do now to change the past. Just try to keep breathing and realize that we are doing the best that we can and after listening to the rest of the song you can realize that no matter what life might throw at you, you will be okay.

I want to share two and they are definitely:

From Eminem’s Beautiful Pain: Beautiful Pain

“…As time passes, things change everyday
    But wounds, wounds heal
But scars still remaining the same…”

And Battle Cry by Angel Haze:

“…Rarely had a heart to do a lot of things I ought to
So now I spit it for people who say their cords missing
Inspire life into anybody that’s forfeiting
Cause it’s easy to keep pretending that there’s nothing wrong
But it’s harder to keep your head up and be strong…”

My favorite lyrics has to be from the 90’s, I cant get over my these lyrics:

“I’m so happy ’cause today I found my friends, they’re in my head / I’m so ugly, but that’s OK ’cause so are you.”
