Today I walked into a store and an employee said to me,
“No more Jackson, no more Prince, huh?”
At first, I did my regular ‘good-for-any-moment’ smile, I had no clue what he was talking about. This might have been a better response several years ago when I literally had no clue who Prince was, or a few hours ago when I had no idea that he had actually died.
Then I responded,
“O yeah! I saw it in the news earlier man, really sad… its crazy!”
I remember scrolling through my news feed and seeing the headline, but I didn’t have time to read the news.
But right, then and there it was very clear that Prince had died.
“I grew up listening to Jackson, James Brown and Prince.. they are just gone like that,” He added.
It struck me, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Earlier this week, it was in the news that Prince had a flue and some people were like ‘if Prince go the bathroom it makes the news’. I didn’t care much either, because a day later he was out of the hospital.
No one really believed that he may have been seriously ill and I doubt that anyone even came close to think that today we would be mourning his death.
Its really sad!
