Why I "Love" Valentines day

I am more excited about Valentine’s day coming up then I was excited for any other holiday. People always say they think Valentine’s day is the worse holiday or that love should be shared everyday… Although I do agree that love should be everyday, I think it’s beautiful that there is holiday that is solely based on the concept of love.

When I was younger my mom always left a box of chocolates for my siblings and I. What was even more cool was the local flower shop in my hometown would give each person a bouquet of roses and carnations, but the point was to give each flower out to friends and family. I use to think this was just the most amazing thing. I loved giving them out to each of my friends, and maybe even my crush 😉

After a few years of heartbreak from an ex, (who would not let me celebrate this day) I realized that something important to me was well worth it. I now celebrate with my boyfriend, and it really isn’t about the gifts we give, or the dinner we have, it’s about being together and celebrating the love we have.

I think right now everyone could use some love, there is so much hate in our world. I wish it could be everyday, but I think Valentine’s day is special to have one day full of love. <3 <3

Yess!!! Torry I love Valentine’s day too (now..) I never had a great relationship until a little over 3 years ago, so I was always the bitter person that day. I can laugh about it now, but yeah as a holiday it can bring mixed emotions up…

I really like to include friends on valentine’s day – its a cute way to spread the love in a platonic way. I think that was so cute of the flower shop to help share the joy by giving flowers. I love getting chocolate

(BTW, am I the only person who hoards holiday candy after the holiday, when they get over 50% off? My brain lights up something fierce when I see those sales!)

This is gonna be me now:

Thats so cute, my mom did the same thing for my siblings and I. I think Valentine’s Day is a money making holiday but it is a great way to get everyone to acknowledge their loved ones for at least a day. It’s almost like a dedication day. I’m a strong believer in showing love all year around but I do respect the gaudy, over the top gifts that couples and families indulge in. It’s the one time of the year that it’s expected of you to go all out lol

Torry, I am so glad that you took this holiday back and you are celebrating it the way you want to. It’s not fair for someone to take anything away from you that you enjoy. I wish you the best!

Michael, I’m happy to hear that you have stepped onto the other side of the spectrum lol No more bitterness! I like to include my friends too, especially those who don’t have significant others. Love is love… and showing it is always a good thing.

Thanks guys! I am so happy I am not the only one haha! Michael, for real though.. that 50 percent or even 75 percent off is just… AMAZING. ha!
I do think people go a little over the top but it’s still fun to have those moments. I would love a giant teddy bear, I have always wanted one of those lol!

Listen, Chocolate is expensive, so I have no shame in whipping out chocolate hearts in June because it saves me money!
