Television for me serves as a huge distraction, especially in those times when my mind seems to be my worst enemy. With that being said, here are a list of my favorite TV shows and a little description of them:
-C.S.I NY: A crime scene investigation show in which members of a New York crime lab follow pathological, forensic and DNA evidence in order to put away murderers.
-Impractical Jokers: A series involving 4 best friends who make each other do and say hilariously awkward things in public settings while the others watch behind the scene all while being recorded on national television.
-Spongebob Squarepants: A very immature cartoon sponge has adventures underwater with his best friend who is a starfish named Patrick. They terrorize their neighbor Squidward and annoy all the other inhabitants of Bikini Bottom.
-How not to Get Away With Murder: A class offered at a University turns into a real-life scenario of how to avoid getting caught red-handed after committing a murder. It involves a lot of sex, a lot of covering up, a lot of action, and a lot of drama.
I can definitely relate to indulging in TV to relax! I actually have tried to stay away from a lot of tv due to my distractabiltiy (I don’t have cable, only netflix and any movies or shows I own.)
That being said, I LOVE Mad Men, the show about an advertising agency in the 60’s, revolving around the lives of the men and women there. It can be really realistic, with the show involving some light hearted yet dramatic events. I just find it really good!!
Another show I love is The Nanny. This is my go to when I need a fun laugh that cheers me up – its about a young woman who gets sumped by her fiance and sells makeup door to door, landing at the steps of a wealthy broadway producer. She eventually becomes his nanny for his kids, and the rest is comedy gold.
And the supporting cast is hilarious… Def check it out!
I find it interesting that a lot of people these days are no longer going with the traditional cable services and are sticking with the Netflix-WIFI service type programming options instead. I can tell you one thing, it sure is cheaper, and the options are pretty diverse. Also, although I have seen The Nanny here or there but have never gotten into it, I find it intriguing that I also enjoy some 90’s TV shows.
I am not sure why I did not include Law and Order: SVU on my initial post, as it is one of my favorite shows as well. I am much more fond of the first couple of seasons where Elliott Stabler is still a part of the cast, but the rest of the seasons are still very good.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt:
I like this show because it’s upbeat, and I really love how I identify with Kimmy’s refusal to break or fall apart and go live a life of freedom. Resilience and persistence!! It’s been my favorite for the past year because I feel like I am in the same boat having been held in captivity of mental suffering but now finally have the opportunity to go out into the world.
