I think this a great tool to help kids in different types of care stay connected and maintain a wider network of support. I agree there are certain risks, as there is with everything, but it is something that should be tried in order to allow a young person to feel more connected.
When I was in care I didn’t have social media until further into it I got Myspace. I think that if I had the chance to use social media as a way to connect and feel supported, I would have loved it. I think any kind of support you can get it helpful. It may be hard if family tries to reach out, that is probably the only barrier I would have had with it.
