Self-Discovery Writing Prompt: (11-02-16)

If I could talk to my teenage self, the one thing I would say is…

I knew mine right away. It would be something along the lines of you really are going to be okay, it’ll all find a way of working out, it’s not just you no one else knows what they’re doing either, and take that plan you made for yourself in elementary school and throw it out the window. that’s not the only way to be successful and you need to adapt your plan to fit new knowledge and experiences. If I could tell my teenage self one thing it would probably be that it is absolutely okay to be myself. I would allow myself permission to begin being me and begin expressing my needs and wants way earlier on. I wouldn’t wait until a big pile up of emotions to then simply blow up, but rather express myself as soon as I needed to because I understand from the future that THIS IS OKAY. Being yourself is okay. Allowing yourself to feel is okay. You don’t have to hide your feelings to take care of the world because you are human and you are allowed to feel.
