School can be awesome. Of course at times stressful but it can also be tons of fun. Friends, new things to do, a new kind of freedom. What are you thinking about school now that we are like 3 months in?!
I love school! It keeps me focused on productive tasks, I love doing homework and studying and taking tests, and even though I might complain at times that it’s too much work or get overwhelming, I wouldn’t trade it for anything! The sense of accomplishment when you do well on a test is wonderful, and if you don’t do so well I see it as motivation to work harder and do better next time.
As for the social aspect, I also enjoy it. I met my closest friends through college three years ago, and I also tend to isolate myself sometimes to the point where its unhealthy, so being able to go to class and at least see people without having to actually interact and make friendships was very helpful for me.
Having the routine and knowing I have something to do also helps me a lot, an unstructured and open schedule leaves me feeling unproductive and bored, both of which are triggers for me.
Glad its going well Amily! It was the same experience for me.. I love the routine and knowing that I have something to do as well. But sometimes it can be a bummer because I love to have things open and to be able to just relax.
It’s all an awesome experience thought and I hope that it continues to be great for you!
I love school it seems I like learning new things everyday, and the professors are real smart so they teach you all kinds of things. Meeting your new classmates is awesome you meet a lot of new people from all over he country.
I agree Jamie, for sure. The world is so much bigger than high school. This year is really going by so fast, it’s crazy. It has been such a learning experience and really opened my eyes to a lot of things.
Ahhh! its good to see so many people loving school (whether high school or college)… I am looking forward to going back to college this fall.
Its been a roller coaster over the last few months, but its definitely time to buckle down and get every ‘ounce of education’ I need for a better future. I am fascinated with economics and so I am hoping to focus my studies in this area.
But what are you guys currently studying or planning on studying in college?
I plan on studying primarily Middle Eastern Studies, Psychology, Philosophy, and Women and Gender Studies. However, I’m keeping my mind open for whatever else comes along in college!
Recently, I found out that although I had been waitlisted at a college I really wanted to attend, the college closed the waitlist. I was and am upset and confused, and it’s hard for me to cope considering that my absolute best friend is attending this college come next spring. I love her to death, but inside I selfishly feel like I deserve it more than she does. I take way, way harder classes than her, and her dad works there, giving her an advantage for admission. How do I deal with this without hurting our friendship? I just can’t imagine myself going to visit her when she’s in school and acting as though everything is normal.
EMW all those emotions and totally valid and can be a lot to handle when you are going over and over it in your head. It isn’t selfish to have emotions. And at the same time, you are able to either act in that emotion mind where you feel angry or you can be in your wise mind and feel happy for your friend. And to be honest, feeling both at the same time for a little while is understandable. I personally believe that things happen for a reason, and maybe this just wasn’t what was meant to be.
