So I’m home from college until January 10th for my winter break, and being home is kind of stressful. In general, the holidays are a pretty anxiety filled time for me. Does anybody else feel uncomfortable / agitated around the holidays because of family stuff?
Hey Isabel, i can relate to what your going through. I’m out of state to visit my father, step mom, baby sister and other family members here in Phoenix Arizona. I just arrived here yesterday and i want to leave already. My father and i aren’t connecting and i’m not really connecting with anyone here. I’m going to be here for a whole week… why do you feel uncomfortable/agitated around your family?
Hey! I’m sorry that you’re having a hard time too :\ basically the holidays are really hard for me because of my mom – she and I have a very complicated relationship and sometimes I feel like the parent in the situation. My mom and dad don’t really get along either, which just creates another undercurrent of stress. Why aren’t you getting along with your family? A week isn’t that bad! I’m here until January 10th :\
Whenever I come home for break it always feels more stressful than relaxing, especially during the holidays! Since my parents are divorced I end up running around to try and make every holiday event possible and being asked the same question from relatives over and over again is exhausting. “Whats new in your life and lets talk about your career path.” It is difficult to see all my friends around me with such fun and close knit families when mine is so broken and the exact opposite of what a close knit family is. I take comfort in the fact that I have such great friends and friends parents that have become my own little unique family. I’m here for almost another month though so wish me luck!
