I see a lot of Facebook posts about having a “Friendsgiving”- I LOVE this idea!! Some people love the holidays, some dread them- but I think we all deal with stress regardless!
I grew up with a really small family. We used to go to friends houses on the holidays, which was always so much fun. Some years my mom was really depressed or we couldn’t get to anybody’s house and those times were really hard for all of us. I know a lot of people have small or broken families, and I love how normal it’s becoming to break the traditional expectations of family holidays and include friends and other loved ones. I’ve never had an intentional friendsgiving, but thats how it always is for me. What do you guys do on the holidays? What are your plans this year?
Has anybody ever had a Friendsgiving?
Do you just spend it with family, friends, both, or do you stay in?
What would your ideal Thanksgiving look like?
I just had my very first Friendsgiving! I LOVED it. It was so nice to celebrate being thankful with people I love but don’t get to see all the time, since we have all gone down different roads since college.
My college roommate cooked EVERYTHING and she did an amazing job. Everyone felt comfortable and at home with each other. And the best part was- we didn’t have to worry about dealing with broken families or arguments or hard times. We all just got to celebrate our friendship. Stress free- and so much fun.
