      Hi everyone

As we become adults life can become overwhelming with work school and just life in general. What helps me cope is having something that can take me out of reality for just a moment. Whether it’s listening to a song or artist I love, or watching something on t.v. or a movie. Or sometimes I take myself to my happy place where I feel peace and serenity. Do any of you have something to rely on when you’re feeling stressed? Do you have a happy place? please share.

      Hey Carl,

I feel like when I am stressed out I have several different ways I like to escape. Sometimes I just like laying in bed on this giant stuffed unicorn that I have, and jamming to my favorite songs really loudly. On other occasions, I just like doing sudoku puzzles in order to occupy my mind and help me focus my entire energy on other things besides whatever is bothering me at the moment. If I am physically trying to get away, I must say I like going to places where I can swim and just be in the water.

When things get so busy and overwhelming, I find that listening to music, even if its while Im doing a task that’s stressful is really helpful to me. I also try to make plans with friends or people I care about at least once a week, and when I don’t have time for that I try to dedicate Sundays for sleeping in, not making my bed, and hanging out with Willow! Sometimes still, I need to take “5” and sit outside, put on a good song, and scroll through facebook for a few minutes to clear my mind and distract myself. And when I have time, drawing is a great way to express what I’m feeling and distract and let go of negative thoughts!

      Hey Carl,

This is a great topic to discuss, it can be very helpful to read what others coping tricks are. When I am overwhelmed and I just need a break there are a few things that help me. My very first and favorite is reading under a comfortable blanket. I can just curl up and read for hours after that I usually feel better. If I’m not doing that I either take a nap, or go window shopping. Occasionally I will take a candle lit bath with lavender, I usually sit in there until I’m wrinkly.

      Hey guys,

      Awesome responses, great topic thread!

I think my happy place is the beach. It’s so soothing and comforting for me. It’s tough though because it being winter makes it difficult to visit because I’m not a fan of the cold.

My other happy place would be when I’m home, in my cozy pjs and robe, with my snacks, cat, mom, and a show to watch. Its peaceful and fun at the same time, also relaxing which I haven’t had much time to do lately.

And of course, my biggest happy place is church. Whether its sitting in the pew during a service, sitting in a circle during a bible study, taking care of the kids in the nursery, or on my knees at the alter praying … church is the most peaceful, happy place for me

Those are all great ways to cope. It’s great to share our coping methods because we can all learn from each other.

      Thank you for sharing everyone!
