When fear turns into hope

In Intentional Peer Support it talks about relationships and how fear based relationships focus on what is wrong and what may happen, but hope based relationships are based on what’s possible and working together. In all my relationships, I have started to do this. I have noticed the more honest I am and the more I speak about what my fears use to be (trust, lieing, etc) it has begun to much easier to have a relationship. My bond with my grandparents has strengthen more then it had ever been because I have told them that in the past I could not trust anyone. The more honest I was, the more we began to have an honest relationship. I truly believe this can work in any friendship, working with peers, or even with family members.

Honesty is always the key… in my relationships, I try to always be as honest and open as well, even at the risk of hurting someone’s feelings. Usually, for me, it’s been moreso about how I say things and break it down, rather than what it is I’m actually saying. I’ve worked on wording things a lot differently and sticking to the truth.

Fear based relationships are hard to fix so it seems to make more sense to just start off in a hope based relationship. Everything is about communication and about being real with the situation/the person you’re in a relationship with.

Rai, You are so right! It is much easier to start off with hope based relationships then fear based! Thanks for sharing!
